Question : Wobbly orchids in pots?
I re-planted my oncidium and dendrobium in larger pots (6in) about 3-4 months ago but the plants are wobbly. I tried to plant them a bit deeper so they'll be sturdy but it doesnt work. The plants themselves are okay because the oncidium has spiked again (I never have any of my orchids re-bloomed at all in my 5 year experience of having orchids) and the dendrobium is growing very nice, thick, healthy white roots, which I didnt see before I moved it. My question: is it okay for the orchids to be wobbly in their pots? If not, how do I remedy it? I used medium size bark to re-plant the plants. Should I add other medium? Any tips is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Answer #1 Stake them with a small diameter dowel & use some florist tape to lightly secure
them to the dowel. Place the dowel to the edge of the pot if possible so that
you do not damage the roots when you push the dowel into the soil. Then
carefully place some florist tape around the orchid stem & then over to the
dowel. Do not pull it tight, just enough to sturdy the stem & help it to remain
upright.Be sure your orchids are being fed properly & living in the required
environment. Good Luck... - answered by apak
Answer #2 Congrats on your spike!Orchids will grow new roots seasonally, regardless of if
they are repotted.Try threading both ends of a fine coated wire up through two
holes or down through two holes and gently wire the plant into the pot.Best of
luck! - answered by heart o' gold
Answer #3 There are metal clips made for this purpose. The straight part goes down into
the medium and the top slips over the exposed roots. They come in several sizes.
I would recommend checking a good garden center or specialty catalogue to obtain
them. - answered by connor g
