Question : Can you bring orchids back from Hawaii to the mainland?
I'm going to Hawaii soon and would like to bring back some orchids for a friend.

Answer #1 I brought an orchid lei back with no problem. (Except for the drug dog keying
off on the orchids that is) - answered by Norm
Answer #2 The only plants you are allowed to bring back are packaged plants with a Dept of
Agriculture certification on them.You can buy certified pre packed plants
everywhere. - answered by Norm
Answer #3 You can also bring back non-packaged plants provided you leave them with the
Dept. of Agriculture for a day or two prior to your departure. There, they will
fumigate it and tag it with a DOA seal which will allow you to bring it with you
to the mainland. Some mainland states however have their own acceptance lists
for plants and vegetables. For example: California will not allow the import of
the Hawaiian White Ginger plant whereas the other states will. (go figure). - answered by igotpoi
