Question: When and what are the best flowers to purchase for your mother on mother's day?

Question : When and what are the best flowers to purchase for your mother on mother's day?
I've decided to get my mother some flowers, except I really don't know what kind of flowers to get. What would you recommend? What color? How many? Also, I am wondering if I should buy them now (a day before mother's day) or if it is better to buy them a day of. If i bought them right now, would i have to put them in water? Thanks.

I'm thinking that you may want to go with some nice perfume. A set with lotion and shower gel. Fileines, Macy's, Bergdorf's, Lord and Tailors etc they have nice stuff

Yes, buy them ahead, on the day there will be no selection left. Buy fresh ones of the best quality you can afford. If you know her favorite kind of flower or her favorite color and something about the sort of style that she appreciates ( think of clothing, household, etc.) that could help you choose. Yes, put them in a vase with both water and the preservative that you get at the florist shop. Buy at least a dozen with some kinds of "filler" foliage. If you can afford it have the florist make a nice arrangement. If not, trim the ends of each stem diagonally yourself before placing them in the liquid solution in the vase.

Oh, tulips sound lovely this time of year - a dozen tulips would be plenty! Most stores also have a variety bouquet in beautiful spring colors. If you have a vase to keep them in, buy them today, if not, buy them tomorrow. You could also go with a live plant instead of flowers or if Mom is a gardener, then a flat of live annuals that she can plant in the garden (with your help?!?) would be wonderful too.Now if money is no object, go to a florist but if you need to watch your pennies, then grocery store flowers are good. How about a box of Godiva chocolates to go with those flowers?

Purchase her flowers with the bulbs still on them. She can plant them in a garden and watch them grow each spring.Cut flowers--anything but carnations!!

The best flowers are star gazer Lillie's. They are gorgeous and smell pretty. Your mom will love them. Roses are played out, and tulips are boring... cant go wrong with these :) get a dozen, you can by them now and keep them in the refrigerator, you don't have to put them in water, but at least wrap a wet paper towel around the ends, and before you or mom put them in water, make sure to re cut the ends so they get a fresh opening to the water. ( i used to work in a flower shop:))

Actually, carnations are nice. Stargazer lilies STINK and they cost too much! But all moms love tulips. They are fun if it is a bunch of different colors. You can find them in grocery stores, but yea, also get some chocolates. And be sure to remember the card!!
